Children’s behavior is influenced by their development, their environment and the adults who care for them.

Respect and enjoy children
Praise their efforts
Model kindness and patience
Use calm, helpful language
Set clear, age-appropriate limits
Offer choices
Teach children what to do instead of focussing on what not to do
Teach children to solve problems with words
Understand that children's misbehavior is normal and natural
Focus on the child's behavior rather than on the child's self

Young children do not develop well when they are pressured, frightened, threatened or punished.

As per section 31 of Child Care Regulations: Under no circumstances may children be humiliated, neglected, isolated, spoken to in a harsh manner, deprived of food or other basic needs, slapped or spanked.
